It's easy being green!

The sponsors of the 2009 DOE Integrated Safety Management (ISM) Conference are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of this conference through:

• Use of new media and electronic technology to minimize paper use
• Created a conference web site
• Offer electronic registration
• Reduce distances traveled by holding the event in a single facility within walking distance of hotels
• Advertised use of shuttle van from the Knoxville airport to reduce rental car use
• Printed materials are published on recycled paper

Selected a conference facility (Knoxville Convention Center) with numerous "green" efforts, including:

• Re-designed hot water supply to allow building to turn off the "high-pressure" boiler
• Changed out paper towel dispensers to automated dispensers to eliminate waste
• Installed waterless urinals
• Recycle paper and cardboard, glass, plastic, aluminum and steel cans, and mixed paper
• Changing all paper products to recycled paper
