Y‑12 helps ensure a safe and reliable U.S. nuclear weapons deterrent. We also retrieve and store nuclear materials, fuel the nation’s naval reactors, and perform complementary work for other government and private-sector entities.

Bechtel Jacobs Company LLC is the environmental management contractor for the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Office, located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The company is responsible for environmental cleanup and waste management on DOE’s Oak Ridge Reservation. Bechtel Jacobs Company also supports DOE in a reindustrialization program to find commercial uses for many Oak Ridge facilities that no longer have a mission.

Since 1997 EnergX has provided technical support to government and commercial clients, including the Department of Energy and its contractors. EnergX operates the TRU Waste Processing Center, a Category 2 Nuclear Facility in Oak Ridge, TN. EnergX also manages the Hanford Training Center providing both technical and professional training to all contractors and professional technical support.

Isotek Systems LLC is responsible for the safe removal of U-233 inventory from Building 3019, a Category 2 nuclear facility at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The project will be completed in 2015 and involves the uranium processing system design, construction, and operation. Isotek Systems LLC, based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is a partnership of EnergySolutions, Nuclear Fuel Services, and Burns & Roe Enterprises, Inc.
